When we visit Isan region in Thailand, we can see most of grandparents live alone together with grandchildren whereas the working-age adults are working in Bangkok or the big city. This is really one of the social problems in Thailand which need our support to fulfill the need. In most cases interactions with the younger generation are minimal even though they live in the same family. Senior Citizens Smiles and Power Kid Plus+ Project join the activities hand in hand, just to bring a mutual relationship between family members and create a happy family at the end. From January 24 to 26, 2011, EDF went to 5 schools in Nakhon Ratchasima to follow up their 2nd phases of Ajinomoto’s Health & Nutrition Promotion Project sponsored by Ajinomoto Inc. in Japan. Being implemented for nearly one year the project answers to the needs of lunch supply from time to time for the schools. Produce like partridge eggs (Thai: ไข่นกกระทา), catfish, frog meat, mushroom, vegetables, can serve the school lunch program nutritiously. Added to that students also learned about nutrition from practitioners from local hospital, health centres at the district & sub-district levels which was held once a month. The students realised the importance of exercising as they, everyday, exercised every evening after school or before getting home. Exercises included aerobic with Hula-hoops, Thai-boxing-style aerobic, for instance. |

The event was attended by more than 50 people, majority of which were Thai rather than Japanese. The Thai audiences were very impressed with the Japanese traditional music they heard for the very first time. In addition, the artists themselves also contributed partial profits from their performances in Japan. |
