Dream and Friendship Camp 2011
“Dream and Friendship Camp” is part of the Education Support Project for Disabled Children (ESPDiC) by WAFCAT and EDF, and was designed to provide our target children with disabilities (CWDs) with an opportunity to travel away from home and meet many friends to create support network with each other. It also aims at encouraging CWDs to create positive attitudes and environments towards disabilities, regarding Health, Education, Livelihood, Social, and Empowerment.

Dream and Friendship Camp 2011

The overnight camp was organized from January 21 to 24, 2010, at Baptist Conference Center, Pattaya in Chonburi. Throughout the program, there were 326 persons invited as target and a total of 160 persons participated in the camp, including teachers and parents, local staff/teachers of Special Education Center and Education Service Area (Board of Education), volunteers, as well as CWDs. Only 1st grade and above students from Nhong Bualumphu, Roi Ed, Srisaket and Surin were invited who were most appropriate for the activity target.

During the camp, a variety of activities were introduced, such as Walk Rally, Sightseeing, Role Model Student Presentation, and Group Sharing. To make the participants more active in those activities, there were also many ice-breaking/recreation activities like singing karaoke, dancing, and snack breaks were well prepared for them to refresh and stay focused. With this program, we believe that those CWDs can be agents who change our society to be more barrier-free, by applying their how-to-solve-problem skills and knowledge from their own experiences. Therefore, this camp will put most focus on letting them talk with each other and think together on how to overcome their challenges by themselves.
