Project operational period

1 September-31 December 2023

Project operational area

Covers at least 10 small primary schools and primary schools with educational opportunity expansion throughout Thailand, which have been facing school canteen equipment shortage over the years.

Social problems and solution

Conditions of lunch table and the canteen of Klong Muen Phet Anusorn School, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province which is a small school with a total of 103 students and is one of the schools waiting to receive support from the project in 2023.

Conditions of the table and chairs and kitchenwares and equipment in the canteen of many small rural schools in Thailand affects hygiene and the safety of children who come to use the service every day.

In addition to food nutrition, school canteen atmosphere that is conducive to eating pleasure and small talks during lunch does contribute to the overall learning environment inside schools. Sadly, budget shortages have severely affected small primary schools and primary schools with educational opportunity expansion.

The main necessary canteen equipment that most schools need support for is trays, spoons, tables, chairs, and various kitchen utensils that are required to prepare meals for all students in the school.

EDF Foundation school canteen surveys at several small primary schools and primary schools with educational opportunity expansion in the remote areas have shown that school canteens are in immediate need for refurbishment.
