Nowadays, not only the government sector but public companies and joint ventures in Thailand are also paying more attention to community services. Most of activities are made trough financial donation to non-profit organizations or by putting their own efforts and time to support community service activities.
Mr. Satoru Kadoya, the president of Daikin Compressor Industries Ltd., a world leading compressors and air-condition manufacturing. Their products are sold to the subsidiaries and other regions worldwide. Mr. Satoru told us that even though the company does not have specific policy for community service but the employees are willing to support the community. They realized that they should have done something beneficial to the people and community where they are working at. This could gain better understanding and relationship between the company and people in the community.
Daikin Compressor Industries Ltd. and the president himself have been supporting the Education for Development Foundation (EDF) by donating fund for poor children in North Eastern region for over 4 years. When Mr. Satoru Kadoya first came to Thailand, he wanted to donate the money for the foundation in Thailand. At that time EDF has sent the brochures to introduce the foundation to Daikin. That was the beginning of Daikin Compressor Industries Ltd. in knowing EDF and its activities. The beginning of year 2005, the company has also donated the money received from winning the Best Executive Award amount of 100,000 THB to EDF to support the orphanages in North Eastern provinces whose parent died in the Tsunami 2004.
