Applying for EDF Scholarship for Underprivileged but High-Achieving Lower Secondary Students
Academic Year 2026

“My life did not begin with the same opportunities as many other children, but I have never allowed my circumstances to defeat me. Going to school each day gives me hope that my future can still be changed. Even on the days when I feel tired or discouraged, I remind myself that education is the only path that can lead my family and me to a better life. I dream of continuing my studies as far as I can, so one day I can take care of those I love.”
Hello, My name is Natthachaya, and my nickname is Belle. I am currently studying in Grade 8 (Mathayom 2) in Sakon Nakhon Province.

My life did not begin as smoothly as many other children’s. My parents separated when I was in kindergarten, so I had to move between the care of several relatives, including my grandmother and grandfather. Most recently, I moved back to live with my father after he started a new family. Because of this, I have learned to adapt and adjust to change from a very young age until now.

Every day after school, and on days when my parents go out to sell goods, I stay at home to take care of my younger siblings and help with household chores. Even though my mother is a stepmother, I truly love her and always want to help ease her burden.

Belle has had to move between the homes of several relatives since childhood, and has only recently returned to live with her father and stepmother in her current home.

I receive only 20 baht per day for school expenses, so I use every baht very carefully and try not to ask for anything unnecessary. I understand that my family does not have much, and everyone works extremely hard to earn each small amount of money.
Although my family faces financial hardship, I have never given up. I study diligently every day because I believe education is the only way to improve my life and my family’s future. I am currently in Grade 8 with a GPA of 3.87, which I am very proud of, as every grade represents my effort and perseverance.

Despite the hardships in her life, Belle has never given up and continues to study diligently, earning an impressive GPA of 3.87.

My dream is to become a social studies teacher. I want to be a teacher who truly understands students and encourages children who face difficulties in life, just like I do. I hope to use my education to take care of my family and become a valuable member of society.

For me, a scholarship is not just financial support—it is an opportunity. It gives me the chance to continue my education without worrying about being a burden to anyone. I promise to study hard, make the most of this opportunity, and grow into someone who can one day pass on opportunities to others.
