Besides being one of Thailand’s top legal academics, Dr.Jade Donavanik has also been an EDF donor since 2006 when he began supporting the education of six young students.

Dr.Jade is now involved as a chairperson for the EDF project, “Under the Same Sky”. This project helps to provide scholarships for children who have lost their parents and families amidst the violence in Thailand’s three southern-most provinces.
Dr.Jade expressed his interesting point of view on the education of underprivileged children and the happiness he feels from being a person who can give someone a chance. “Education and morality are vital in every society. More and more, education and morality will help people clearly understand the things happening in their society. From this understanding, a peaceful society will arise.”
“Nowadays, increased emphasis is being placed on the educational needs for children and youth, such as establishing a free learning policy. Many people believe that children should not need to pay any cost for classroom learning. However, there is an expense for classroom learning as well as the additional costs of lunch, educational activities, transportation and so on. Therefore, charities like EDF are important as they fill the gap between givers and receivers to provide educational opportunities for underprivileged children. As a result, children will be equipped to learn to the best of their abilities and can truly be free from poverty.”
“I truly believe that if someone gives us a great opportunity, we will then be able to give an opportunity to others one day. These underprivileged children can grow and pass opportunity on to others, if only they get an opportunity from someone today.” |
