Little Artist on the Wheelchair
“Pin”  or Juthamanee Worasarnsiri, a 4th grade student from Ban Bu (Pracharath Pattana), Nakornratchasima province, was born with physical disability due to the polio. She not walk and has to spend her whole life on the wheelchair. Pin was one of EDF scholarship students in the recent school year 2013.

She is currently living with her parents and another older sibling who is studying in the same school. Her family is poor and her father is the only breadwinner of the family and work as a low-pay menial worker while her mother became jobless because she has to take care Pin.

Her mother will take Pin and her sibling to go to school everyday and stays with her during the school time to help her in classroom, during lunch time or taking her to the restroom since the school does not have basic facilities for the people with disabilities such as slopes or handicapped restroom and Pin is too young to take care of herself at school.
Her teacher said that “Pin is a good girl, good temper and cheerful. She always speaks beautifully and obeys the teacher and her mother. She is loved by all the teachers and friends at school”

Pin’s mother told us that “ I never feel tired with taking care of Pin. I want her to be educated or ,at least, literate so that she can earn for a living and teaking care of herself when she grows up. Also, she has right to play with friends like other children do”

Pin always dreams of being an artist because she loves to learn arts and has special drawing skill. She also won the first prize in the provincial drawing completion of the children with disabilities. In addition, she loves to use a computer and feels excited every time she studies computer at school.

In the coming school year 2014, there are hundreds of students with disabilities who apply for EDF scholarship support. Despite they were born disabled, but they are capable enough and eager to have a chance to be educated so that they can be self-reliance and not become the burden of other people in the society.
