EDF Scholarship Program

EDF started its scholarship program implementation in 1988 and first granting 41 scholarships to disadvantaged students in Udonthani in 1988.  Its mission was to prolong the school life of rural children who traditionally struggled with attendance because of the lack of financial means, thereby missing the learning opportunities to which they were rightfully entitled.  Since then EDF has granted many more scholarships and continues in its commitment to empowering disadvantaged children through education.

For 36 years, with continuing support from caring donors both in Thailand and abroad, EDF has delivered scholarships worth over 734 million baht to more than 414,000 disadvantaged students in more than 5,800 rural schools throughout Thailand.

EDF scholarships are intended to benefit the underprivileged children in both the short and long term. With the opportunity to study further so that "education" will not be seen as a burden for the living conditions and economy of families but more as “education” as a tool to help children  escape from the economic and social problems and lead to a better life for themselves and their families.
