The home of Pat's grandparents,
where she has lived and grown up since her parents separated.
Every day, I wake up early to get ready for school and prepare meals for my younger sibling and myself. Sometimes my grandmother drives us on her motorbike, but on other days, my sibling and I have to walk. After school, I help my grandparents with household chores such as washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, and doing the laundry. On weekends, I do the laundry for my grandparents and sibling and cook dinner to have it ready for them when they return home from work.
Pat helps her grandparents with all the household chores
to lighten their burden as much as she can.
Even though life is challenging, I never give up. I am determined to study hard and become the strength of my family in the future. If I receive a scholarship from the EDF Foundation, I will use it to buy school supplies and help ease my grandparents’ financial burden.
Despite facing numerous hardships, Patch never gives up
and remains determined in her studies, hoping to one day
repay her grandparents, who have lovingly cared for her.
