Project monitoring for Senior Citizens Smiles Project and Power Kid Plus+ Project, Udon Thani Province |
| |
| 10th September, 2012
When we visit Isan region in Thailand, we can see most of grandparents live alone together with grandchildren whereas the working-age adults are working in Bangkok or the big city. This is really one of the social problems in Thailand which need our support to fulfill the need. In most cases interactions with the younger generation are minimal even though they live in the same family. Senior Citizens Smiles and Power Kid Plus+ Project join the activities hand in hand, just to bring a mutual relationship between family members and create a happy family at the end. Organic farm consists with growing vegetable and animal raising are the activities help to build a good relationship between grandchild and grandparents. |

10th September, 2012 was the day that Ms Anchalee Sitthikulthorn, and Ms Keetacha Loilerd from Thai Health Promotion Foundation and Mrs Laurie A. Adulayavichitr and Ms. Marlies van Dun, representatives from American Women’s Club of Thailand, EDF and provincial project supervisors visited the 2 schools in Udon Thani ie. Ban Donyangnarai School and Ban Nong Waenghee School in Udon Thani province. The team all impressed with the project presentation by student leaders, exercise by senior citizens groups, aged-wisdom classes and home visit to senior citizen's family.
Aged-wisdom classes were really interesting one, as we can see senior groups teach the young generation to make brooms, bamboo hat and crochet class.
