I have a disability. My eyes can’t see clearly and I cannot open my eyes in a bright places for a long time. I live with my grandparents. My parents work as menial workers in another province. My house is a two-story wooden house located far from the village. I have two other siblings and we are 9 in total living together in a small house. My grandparents work on the farm raising cattle and growing rice. However, the rice is sold at meager price so our income is barely enough. This is the reason why my parents had to move to another province to find work and earn money to support us. However, the COVID-19 pandemic in the past few years had badly affected their income.



Due to my disability, I must sit in the classroom's front row to see clearly what is written on the board and must listen very attentively to understand what my teaching is teaching. I am happy to go to school every day as I learn many things and also be able to play with my friends. My friends are so kind helping me in school. At home, I do some household chores, such as washing the dishes, filling water in the bottles and others simple work.  My grandparents encourage me to do things on my own as much as possible so I can learn to take care of things by myself.

 

Despite her disability, Kook Kai is loved by her teachers and friends.



Many children with disabilities, like Kook Kai, can attend inclusive education
with other students, but poverty is a huge hindrance.

I love art. My sports abilities are limited. Still, when I grow up, I want to be a teacher. I am so glad that there was a donor who gave me a scholarship in the past years. This year, I applied for a scholarship again so I can continue my education, see my friends and teachers in the upcoming academic year 2023.
 
If I receive a scholarship, I will spend it to buy a new school uniform, travel expenses and daily allowance to go to school. I would like to say thank you for your kindness. I have nothing to give back but a promise to be a good child and do my best in studying.
